SMARTrenew partner, Leo Strawbridge, to speak at 2021 North West Annual Energy Conference

SMARTrenew partner, Leo Starwbridge, Energy Manager at Derry City and Strabane District Council, is among the speakers announced for this year's North West Annual Energy Conference.

The event, hosted by the local Chamber of Commerce, will take place between 10am-12.00pm on November 11th, at the City Hotel, Derry/Londonderry, featuring a host of expert speakers in the field of energy efficiency in the North West of Ireland.

For nearly three decades the UN has been bringing together almost every country on earth for global climate summits – called COPs, ‘Conference of the Parties’. In that time climate change has gone from being a fringe issue to a global priority. This year will be the 26th annual summit – giving it the name COP26.

With the UK as President, COP26 takes place in Glasgow in early November. In the light of COP26 negotiations, the Annual Energy Conference will consider the key issues for NI’s new Energy Strategy and explains how the transition to net zero can benefit businesses in the North West, the opportunities and pitfalls.

This will be the first public event following the planned publication of the Executive’s Northern Ireland Energy Strategy and attendees will hear firsthand how the Strategy will impact the North West from keynote speaker, Thomas Byrne, Director of Energy Strategy at the Department for the Economy.

Other speakers include:

  • Alan Campbell, SONI
  • Leo Strawbridge, DCSDC
  • Brett Ross, RiverRidge
  • Sinead Hawkins, NWRC

The event is £20 + VAT. If you have a current active membership with the Chamber of Commerce, there is no charge for this event.
